Salifert Silicate Test Kit

Calculated at checkout

Product Description

Silicate may occur in tap water and is readily removed by RODI systems.  Silicate is thought to be related to diatom blooms and may also block some essential trace elements such as vanadium and molybdenum.

The Salifert Test Kit contains sufficient reagent for approximately 60 tests of salt water or freshwater.  The detection range for the Salifert test is from a minimum of 0.03 ppm (mg/L) to a maximum of 30 ppm (mg/L). The recommended level for reef aquaria is a maximum of 2 ppm, or even much lower concentrations if diatoms are an issue.

Silicate content can be decreased by using Buckeye's Granular GFO or High Capacity GFO products. Both the granular and high-capacity products have a very high affinity for silicate.
